[s] babble about where your head’s at for what you’re doing over the summer?

[b]

ideally gets into terraform

[s, side] why?

do more engineering work

want to be working very deeply on something blake that’s excitingly ambitious

don’t have a well-defined scope

could imagine doing a lot of different things:

have been more interested in purely artistic projects

film-making

erik wenquist

have a lot of things that might be fun

have been so caught up in this year, this quarter, that haven’t thought about the summer

wrote in the journal that he needs to write out a 1y, 2y, etc plan for college

have lists of various possible projects over the summer

eventually one will fall into blake’s lap; maybe that’s not the best thing to filter for?

decisions:

but, whatever blake wants to do — has to get to an intense environment, where there are smart people working on what he wants to do

why he wants to get into terraform — great engineers there

2w in the middle of the three months to travel w family

funny — blake does think a lot about his future, what he wants to do, etc

but has been focused on rowing right now, not steering

[s] it’s the end of the summer. things went great. what happened?

[b]

built something that is really cool

did it with people

i’ve built alone, wasn’t fun, was isolating

whoever it is, built a relationship with a team of people through building the thing

physically pretty fit

[s] genie — you get nothing else. what’s missing?

[b]

built something real — built something that people want — that he can sell to people, that people will buy

found a problem that blake is excited about

identify some problem, lead a team in solution to that problem, sell it for lots of money

not that blake actually cares about money, but that $ is a great proxy for “people cared about this”

so broad bc it has to be broad

could be a brick & mortar thing — party

robot — would be so sick!

etc

[b] cedars’ sinai

went and talked to the people

but really hard — realized that it’s really hard to build technology that actually solves people’s problems

there’s an actual gap between “what people need” and “what tech actually does”

a lot of robotics is focused on complex, flashy solutions — humanoid robots that blake doesn’t see the application for

doing more research into that area

[s] genie again — you get nothing else. what’s missing?

[b] head is clouded with a lot of romantic stuff

would want a girlfriend

do something with an extremely high “wow” factor

contacting the head coach of the ucla volleyball team, asking what it takes to play libero at the D1 level

maintain relationships

awaken siblings to the excitement of reality

[b] meta
